Kilmarnock star's brutal Fabio Silva Rangers quip, was going to 'knock him spark out'

Kilmarnock striker Kyle Vassell has shared a hilarious yet brutal story about how teammate Daniel Armstrong attempted to get into Rangers loanee Fabio Silva's head last season.

Vassell, who is the current Killie captain, appeared as guest on the latest edition of the Open Goal Podcast

Discussing life in the Rugby Park dressing room, Vassell said: "I think we are proof [that spirit can get you a long way in football], last season especially. We had such a good dressing room, we have such a good dressing room, and obviously when things aren't going well we can still dig out results when we maybe shouldn't. But then also when things don't go well like against Rangers [6-0 loss] we respond and we go X amount of games unbeaten and pick up some points again."

The chat then led on to individuals as Vassell lifted the lid on how Armstrong, who is out of contract in the summer, acts around the place.

"I think it's mandatory that every club has a Danny Armstrong in their dressing room," he said. "Mandatory because on a Monday to Friday basis he's like a Duracell. If you have a bad result, he's still up there and can bring everyone back up.

"That's something I've struggled with throughout my career so it's excellent having someone like him, and it helps that he's a good footballer as well.

"We were playing against Rangers and we waited for them to all come out and it was [Fabio] Silva coming and he goes 'ooo, look at her'. Honestly, I thought he was going to knock him spark out and we all just started laughing.

"He's a massive player, he's been a bit in and out but there's things, here's just had a kid and that, thing change different with different people. But he's still showing off the charts and so important. He's still one of our best players and he shows glimpses every game of where he is. His delivery is still the best delivery of anyone I've played with in football. His delivery is incredible."
