Kilmarnock inmate, 66, dies suddenly at HMP Bowhouse Prison

An inmate at Kilmarnock prison died suddenly over the weekend, police have confirmed.

Officials said that the 66-year-old man passed away at HMP Bowhouse Prison on Saturday, June 20.

Police also confirmed that an investigation is ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland was made aware of the sudden death of a 66-year-old man in HMP Bowhouse Prison on Saturday, June 20. 

"Investigations are ongoing but there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. 

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
