Kilmarnock 1 Charlton 0 as Ayrshire side round-off Spanish pre-season camp with victory

Kilmarnock rounded-off their Spanish pre-season camp with a 1-0 win against Charlton.

The Scottish Premiership new boys defeated the Sky Bet League One side thanks to a Kyle Lafferty tap-in.

The victory for the Ayrshire side follows a 2-2 draw with Champions League side Lincoln Red Imps, and after wins against Queen of the South and Falkirk it has been a successful pre-season for Derek McInnes' side so far.

They head to Dunfermline on Tuesday night before a trip north to take on Fraserburgh in the Premier Sports Cup.

Diallang Jaiyesimi went incredibly close to opening the scoring after just seven minutes, but his effort was only turned on to the post.

Zach Hemming saved a follow-up shot well as the danger was cleared.

Lafferty tried his luck in the 12th minute as he attempted to head towards goal, but his looping effort didn’t prove to be much trouble for Craig MacGillivray.

Charlton had a decent chance in the 27th minute when Albie Morgan fired a shot towards goal, but Hemming was again equal to the effort.

Lafferty had another header effort in the 53rd minute but his effort went wide and after hitting a Charlton head last a corner was awarded.

Lafferty finally bagged his goal just after the hour mark as he capitalised on a defensive mix-up, tapping home from five yards.
