Killing Eve team reveals first look at new Disney Plus superhero series - and it looks Extraordinary!

A new Disney Plus comedy from the team behind Killing Eve looks like it's going to live up to its name - Extraordinary!

The premise is wonderfully unique, with everyone in its world aged over 18 gaining superpowers more than a decade ago - aside from one person.

Enter Jen (played by Belfast's Máiréad Tyers), the 25-year-old woman who unfortunately missed out.

Feeling rather miffed but still endearingly hopeful, she sets off on a quest to discover her 'maybe-superpowers' – and find her feet – with a little help from her kind-hearted flatmates.

Extraordinary, set for release in the new year, is the debut series from Emma Moran, who has teamed up with Sid Gentle Films, the award-winning company behind Killing Eve and The Durrells.

The show will feature rising stars such as Tyers, Sofia Oxenham, Bilal Hasna and Luke Rollason. Joining them will be Derry Girls' Siobhan McSweeney, Desmond's and Motherland's Robbie Gee, as well as Sherwood's Safia Oakley-Green.

The new series joins a burgeoning list of Disney Plus UK original shows on the streaming service – from Wedding Season to Save Our Squad with David Beckham, which premieres next month.

But before Extraordinary whips up a storm in January, there are plenty of things to look forward to on Disney Plus in the coming weeks.

Disenchanted hits our screens on November 18, 15 years after the original Enchanted was released. Tim Allen also reprises his role as Scott Calvin in a new Disney Plus original miniseries The Santa Clauses, out on November 16.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special kicks off on November 25 and will introduce Kevin Bacon into the MCU, while the eagerly-anticipated Warwick Davis-led series Willow will be released five days later.

As if all that isn't enough, the Star Wars series Andor is set to enter its final few episodes this month, with season one reaching a climax on November 23.

Extraordinary will be released on Disney Plus in January next year.
