Killing Eve star Sandra Oh to attend Queen Elizabeth's state funeral

Killing Eve actress Sandra Oh is due to attend the state funeral of the Queen as part of the Canadian delegation, it has been announced.

The star, known for her role in the hit BBC hit series and for starring in Grey's Anatomy, will participate in a procession of national honours as part of the service on Monday. She joins the delegation as a member of the Order of Canada alongside musician Gregory Charles and Olympic gold medallist swimmer Mark Tewksbury.

Oh was granted the honour recently in June 2022, after building her profile in comedy-drama Killing Eve alongside British actress Jodie Comer. The pair recently went head to head at the 2022 Emmy awards for outstanding lead actress in a drama for their roles in the series, but lost out to Euphoria's Zendaya.

Canada's delegation to the funeral will be led by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau and also include governor general Mary Simon as well as former prime ministers and governor-generals. The group is due to depart for the UK on Friday, ahead of the service next week.

Details of the delegation were made public on Thursday during a special address given by Trudeau during a special session of Canada's House of Commons. It was previously announced the day of the Queen's funeral will be marked in Canada with a national day of mourning.

On Monday, 2,000 people, including world leaders and foreign royals, will gather at Westminster Abbey to bid farewell to Britain's longest serving monarch. Recipients of the Victoria Cross and the George Cross and representatives of the Westminster Parliament, devolved parliaments and assemblies, the Church, and Her Majesty's patronages are among those who will also attend.

The service will be conducted by the Dean of Windsor, with Prime Minister Liz Truss and Commonwealth secretary general Baroness Scotland reading the lessons, and the Archbishop of Canterbury delivering the sermon. Some 800 people, including members of the Queen's Household and Windsor estate staff, will attend the committal service afterwards at 4pm in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.
