Killie keeper joins East Kilbride in loan deal as ex-Rangers youth departs

East Kilbride have signed Kilmarnock goalkeeper Curtis Lyle in a loan deal, as former Rangers youth Jack Ruddy departs the club, just days before their Lowland League opener against Tranent.

Lyle, 22, comes in having been on loan at Stranraer last season, with previous experienced at Queen of the South.

He will be on loan at K-Park until the end of his current contract in January 2023.

Ruddy, 24, who came through the youth set-up at Rangers, has recovered from a knock he suffered in a friendly against Forth Wanderers, but the K-Park club cite "circumstances outwith football" as the reason for the former Wolves shot-stopper's departure.

In a social media post, Kilby welcomed Lyle to the club, but said: "Unfortunately, Jack Ruddy has left the club with immediate effect.

"He has fully recovered from the knock he took against Forth Wanderers, however, circumstances outwith football means he will be free to pursue alternative opportunities."

They add that manager Kevin Rutkiewicz "would like to put on record his thanks and appreciation from everyone at the club for Jack's efforts whilst here, albeit a short stay.

"He has high hopes for him and wishes him well in his future endeavours."

Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes said of Lyle: "We were keen to get young Curtis a good loan to get him some games.

"He will remain with us for training throughout the week so we can keep tabs on him, as well as watching him play first-team football at East Kilbride."
