A teenage boy was stabbed to death in the street last night as police have launched a manhunt for the murderer.
West Midlands Police raced to the scene following reports that a boy had suffered serious stab injuries last night at 9pm in Lanesfield, Wolverhampton.
The 16-year-old boy sadly died at the scene and a murder investigation has been launched.
Police are reviewing CCTV and speaking to residents on the road.
Chief Inspector Will O’Connor, from Wolverhampton Police, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the boy’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time. They are now being supported by specialist officers.

“The investigation is progressing at pace and detectives are reviewing CCTV and forensically examining the scene.
“There will be an increase in police around the area in the coming days and they will be offering reassurance and conducting house-to-house enquiries. Please feel free to talk to them if you have any concerns.
“We would also ask anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam to contact us, any information could be vital at this stage.”

Last month, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death during an attack filmed on Snapchat, with another youth charged with his murder.
Zane Smart died after being knifed in the chest near to a canal bridge in Pendeford, Wolverhampton, at around 3.40pm on May 27.
Despite the efforts of paramedics who rushed to the scene, the schoolboy could not be saved.
Over the weekend, a young man was knifed to death outside a Wetherspoons pub in West London.
The 31-year-old died after being stabbed in the centre of Hounslow, with officers called to Staines Road at 12.30am on June 25.
Police swarmed the street along with the London Ambulance Service and found the man with stab injuries.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and flowers were tied to a lamppost on the edge of the police cordon.
