Kilkenny lead the way in All Star camogie nominations

THE PwC Camogie All Star nominations have been announced with All-Ireland champions Kilkenny leading the way on 11.

Cork (10), Waterford (7), Galway (5), Dublin (2) and Limerick (1) make up the remainder of the 36-strong list.

Kilkenny goalkeeper Aoife Norris is up against Waterford’s Brianna O’Regan and Cork’s Amy Lee for the number one jersey.

The Cats have five defenders listed with All-Ireland finalists Cork next on four and Galway having three.

Cork midfielders Ashling Thompson and Hannah Looney are both nominated and go up against Waterford’s Lorraine Bray, Kilkenny’s Katie Power and Galway’s Aoife Donohoe for the two positions available.

Kilkenny forwards Julianne Malone, Denise Gaule, Katie Nolan and Miriam Walsh are all nominated up front, while Dublin’s two nominees are both in attack - Aisling Maher and Aisling O’Neill.

Limerick’s Caoimhe Costello represents her county at half forward.

The Manager(s) of the Year will come from Brian Dowling (Kilkenny), Brian Kearney and Mark McFadden (Antrim) and Cathal Murray (Galway).

The presentation of the awards will take place at a gala banquet on November 26 in Croke Park.

Camogie President Hilda Breslin said: “2022 was an exceptional display of athleticism, skill, hard work and determination from all players.
