A Kildare community is in mourning after the sudden death of their 'lovely' Credit Union CEO Mark Bailey

The Celbridge man died at the Mater Private Hospital on January 15.

Mark, who was the CEO of Celbridge District Credit Union, was described as a "lovely gentleman" by those who knew him.

The Credit Union will be closed on Wednesday to honour Mark's memory and to allow colleagues to attend his funeral at the Clontarf and Scots Presbyterian Church.

The announcement was made by Mark's colleague Pat Grant who said on Facebook: "It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our CEO, Mark Bailey.

"His family, friends and colleagues are all in our thoughts and prayers at this very sad time.

"Our office will be open from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday, closed all day on Wednesday and reopen on Thursday morning at 10am, as a mark of respect to Mark and also to allow Marks colleagues to attend his funeral.

"Kind Regards, The Board of Directors of Celbridge District Credit Union Ltd."

Well-wishers turned up in droves in the comments to pay their tributes to Mark.

One person said: "So sorry to hear of the sad passing of Mark. Mark was such a lovely person and had a very kind and gentle way about him.

"To his family, friends and work colleagues my condolence to you all. May Mark Rest In Peace."
