Kilbarchan AAC ace Jemma Reekie admits her World Championship final spot near-miss was yet another tough result to take.
But the 24-year-old middle-distance star insists she’ll find her sparkle yet in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Reekie safely made it through to the semi-finals of the 800m in Eugene but finished fifth at that stage in a time of 2:00.43, narrowly missing out on a medal shot in Sunday night’s final.
With the Games kicking off on Thursday, Reekie is confident she can find her cutting edge after struggling with glandular fever.
She’ll have to be at her best after fellow Brit Keely Hodgkinson bagged the silver medal at the Worlds.
Reekie said: “It’s been a tough old year with a lot of heartbreak.
"I’m a tough cookie, though, and I’m still determined to make the rest of my season better.
“I’m searching for my sparkle since glandular fever. But I’m going to have to be patient.
" I’m excited to focus on the Commonwealths now and hopefully go out there and perform.”
