Beren Cross & Danny Bloomer

Kiko Casilla's Leeds United fate, 10 possible exits and Elland Road development latest

Big D: “Can you explain to me why when we have Joe Geldhart we are looking at 20- or 21-year-old strikers? Let’s buy a seasoned pro with a good goal scoring track record in the Premier League ie Danny Ings.”

“My reading of the profiles they are after up top is they want players with resale value. If the club is going to break its record transfer fee it would ideally like a big chance of recouping its money and more in the future. Players in their late 20s are unlikely to then deliver a profit in a few years' time. Strikers like De Ketelaere and Kalimuendo are far more likely to get bigger transfers after making an impression at Elland Road.”

White Lion: “Hi Beren, do you think Jesse will have looked at the possibility of using Drameh or Kirstensen at Left Back in the short term? Do you think they could do a job there over and above Struijk or Hjelde?”

“Someone raised this yesterday when we ran our story on Drameh's intentions. It's a nice idea and I could see Drameh being half decent there. One worth raising with Marsch when we get chance.”

Robbie67: “Hi Beren, now CDK is gone, what about Denis? Proven goal scorer, sure we have the budget for him. Also, Cornet for LB? We were linked with him before Burnley bought him and used him up front. £30 million ish should get them both split between them?”

“I said to someone earlier I don't see how those two would fit into Marsch's system. Would they have the work rate and profile for the counter-pressing tactic? Maybe they will. They're not names that have been linked strongly with Leeds though.”

Smith2022: “Hello Beren. As far as you're aware, is there anyone else we can expect to leave the club, either on a loan deal or permanently?

“Separately, is there any word on the development of Elland Road? I haven't heard anything on it in a while (probably due to the position of uncertainty we have found ourselves in) but the debacle yesterday over tickets surely suggests it's long overdue? If we want to be put in the big club discussion then we've got to have the attendances and toll fees to back it up. Cheers.”

“Poveda, Costa, McCalmont, Bogusz, Casilla, Temenuzhkov, Jenkins, Dean, McKinstry and Bate all look like possible exits before the window closes. They could be a variety of loans, permanents and contract settlements.

“You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. Last season's flirtation with relegation has sharpened minds and perhaps underlined how expense like a stadium redevelopment would not be conducive to a swift return if the club were to go down. I would imagine the powers that be need to see some stability in the top flight before pressing the button on the Elland Road work.”

Craig92: “With all players that have moved on praised Bielsa and club talked about a permanent tribute to him. Any idea what this would be and when complete?”

“There's been no talk of what that permanent tribute will be since the original statement was made by the club, unfortunately. The speculation had been around a bucket at Elland Road, but it hasn't materialised.”

Craig92: “Are we actually in the market for an experienced goalkeeper, say we sign one where would that leave Klaesson and Casilla?”

“The ambition was there for an experienced stopper in January, but that department has been quiet this summer. Don't rule it out before the end of the window, but it's not currently a priority. Casilla's future is expected to be resolved before the end of the window, while Klaesson will continue as the under-21s goalkeeper with places on the bench if nobody else turns up between the sticks.”

M44T: “Re a striker, what are the chances we will sign a top name who we haven't been linked with in the media? Could they be smokescreens? Sinisterra was signed on the quiet. Noone knew about it until a couple of hours before it was confirmed. As far as names go, I'd love Patrick Schick from Leverkusen. Surprised no one has been linked with him.”

“There's always that chance. As you say, Sinisterra was not picked up by the Dutch press until a day or two before it was all signed off. I don't believe any of the main three names linked with Leeds are smokescreens. A bid has gone in for the Belgian, but the other two are not at that stage, so it depends what your definition of a smokescreen is. They are players of interest, but nobody is saying they are at advanced talks.”

TimCampbell: “Hi Beren there has been various paper talk of a number of signings that Orta will still make. Some say up to 4 even 5 more signings before the window closes. With Davis away and the forward position not yet filled are we seriously talking two more signings? One follow up I asked the Belgian journalist Alexander Braeckman over the weekend was Noa Lang still in the picture but he seemed to think that interest has faded, are we just set purely on his higher prices team mate?”

“Assuming no first-team players leave between now and deadline day, I would expect a striker and a left-back to come in. They may be a temptation to do an older back-up goalkeeper, but it's been quiet on that front. If any of Marsch's senior options leave they would need to be replaced. Lang's not under consideration right now, from what I understand.”

Robmac64: “Personally I'm sick and tired of being linked with every man and his dog. For god sake, if we're gonna sign a LB and a forward, get it done.”

“You're not the only who feels transfer window fatigue. Every window seems to generate more false links than the last.”

Bielsabub: “Any news or thoughts on Maxwel Cornet & Emmanuel Dennis?”

“No news on either of them. Did well at relegated clubs, but would imagine they have massive wage demands. Would either have the work rate to suit Marsch's system? I can't see it.”

F_Wilson6: “Time to move on from CDK imo. Possibly a move for Terrier. Just wondering if you know of the time scale the club are looking at for both ST and LB, we desperately need the Lb in for Wolves. Plus whether any of the names linked at Lb (Recently Philipp Max) are accurate? Cheers.”

“Leeds haven't put all of their eggs in the De Ketelaere basket, so they can leave the door open to him with one hand while they assess their other options. Leeds know this striker buy could break their record transfer fee and have to make sure they get the right man. Do not be surprised if it's after the start of the season. I'd say it's a big ask to get the left-back in and integrated with the tactics before the Wolves game now.”

Redeyejedi: “Holaa, Really Doubt we're landing CDK tbf, Berisha is a bit of a let down too, would rather Gelhardt get more minutes..... any idea who we’re closest to agreements with?”

“Hola. De Ketelaere hope does seem to be fading by the day. The Milan thing is dragging on, but I do think he'll end up there. Berisha's not one I'm told Leeds are after. I would argue De Ketelaere is the closest because of the agreeable bid which has gone in, but I can't be sure of bids which have gone in for other strikers.”

Bigmally: “Hi Beren, it wouldn't surprise me if CDK stayed @ Brugge or went to Milan. Kalimuendo I feel will stay in France, Terrier I think will go to Everton, leaving us with Berisha @ £5m.”

“As with most things in football, players usually get what they want. I think De Ketelaere ultimately gets that move to Milan. It's just dragging on for so long.

“Kalimuendo and Terrier have a long way to go, if they indeed end up going elsewhere at all. Berisha's not one Leeds are in for, I'm told.”

Ashtheash: “Hello My friend. You might be expecting to ask for Leeds news but no that is something I no longer do. So instead, if you could replace all of the grass in the world with something else, what would it be and why?”

“That's a tough one, but a welcome one. Trees? Trees are going to save the world aren't they?”
