Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Brazilian agent give Newcastle Renan Lodi transfer advantage

"When they see the likes of Bruno going there, and Trippier, they will think 'there is something happening at Newcastle' and it's because of players like him trusting what the manager and owners have told them."

Alan Shearer's recent statement on Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier is one many Newcastle fans are in agreement with. The duo will undoubtedly be used to attract big names to Tyneside this summer.

The summer window does not open until June 10 but Atletico Madrid's Renan Lodi is already being touted as one of many potential arrivals at St. James' Park in the coming months. Chronicle Live understands no contact has been made from Newcastle's side so far but the club have scouted the Brazilian for a number of months.

For Newcastle fans, interest in the 24-year-old shows the direction the club is heading in, the calibre of player being looked at by the new regime and is a strong statement given how well fan-favourite Matt Targett played at left-back this season. For Trippier and Guimaraes, the interest means they may have to play a role in Newcastle's transfer business a lot sooner than they anticipated.

Lodi is familiar with both Newcastle players and could turn to either for advice about what life will be like if he decides to leave La Liga for a pop at the Premier League.

His relationship with Guimaraes stretches back a long time, with both playing for Atletico Paranaense during their youth. Both are now part of Tite's Brazil setup and will likely be in attendance at the Qatar World Cup in November.

Meanwhile, Lodi arrived at the Wanda Metropolitano in the same summer as Trippier, both going on to improve their craft under Diego Simeone. The Argentinian has spoken publicly of his admiration for both full-backs, while the duo have themselves praised the manager for improving them defensively.

There is a third man who will play a big role in any transfer for Lodi this summer - and Newcastle already know him well.

Giuliano Bertolucci, a Brazilian agent and a business partner of Kia Joorabchian, is an intermediary who will help facilitate a summer transfer for Lodi. He played a role in Guimaraes' January move to Newcastle, with Bruno's agent Alexis Malavolta even publicly thanking him for his role in the deal earlier this year.

Bertolucci's dealings with Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi in recent months leave Newcastle in a strong position to beat the likes of Juventus, who have also expressed an interest in Lodi.

The Brazilian agent also represents Sevilla star Diego Carlos, who was a major target for the Magpies in January. The centre-back is now being chased by Aston Villa but remains on the radar of Newcastle chiefs.
