Kieran Tierney tops Premier League stats chart as Celtic hero impresses with other ex-Parkhead star

Kieran Tierney has clocked in as the English Premier League's fastest defender despite limited minutes for Arsenal.

And the former Celtic hero, who is no doubt still buzzing from his exceptional performance for Scotland against Spain, has also allayed injured fears for the Gunners ahead of a crucial period for Mikel Arteta's side. Much has been made of the 25-year-old's future being up in the air but the one-time Hoops star did turn aheads again across the globe when he strolled against La Roja at Hampden.

Tierney has been limited to the bench often for the Gunners as they aim for a historic Premier League trophy, with reports suggesting Newcastle United are leading the charge for his signature. While the popular defender may have a decision to make on his future, he continues to top the charts in some key stats.

The left-back, according to starts shared by Opta, is the fastest defender in the entire Premier League with an average of 35.99 kmh, more than that of the likes of Diogo Dalot from Manchester United and well-know pacey defender Kyle Walker of Manchester City. Tierney ranks in at the eighth fastest in the entire league overall.

And there is a Celtic theme to the rest of the quickest defenders with Brentford man Kristoffer Ajer also in the fastest eleven. The Norwegian clocks in at 35.53 kmh across 10 appearances for Thomas Frank's side despite missing chunks of the season with injury.
