Kieran Tierney told it is ‘impossible’ to get Arsenal wish as Newcastle line up summer transfer move

It will be “impossible” for Kieran Tierney to reclaim his starting berth at Arsenal from Oleksandr Zinchenko, says Mikael Silvestre.

The Scotland international has been limited to only four Premier League starts this season following the summer arrival of the Ukraine international.

Standard Sport understands the former Celtic defender is tempted by the idea of moving to Newcastle this summer should he continue in a reduced role.

Manager Mikel Arteta last week stressed he was simply not thinking about the player’s future during the season, though Newcastle are believed to be keen to sign him this summer.

Dan Burn, a converted central defender, has been occupying the left-back role for Eddie Howe’s side this season but the ambitious Magpies are eyeing a new signing in that department.

Of Tierney’s chances of making a case to play more regularly, former Gunners Silvestre told bettingexpert.com: “Zinchenko is quite a special player. That’s what it is.

“So, you have to be patient."

"It doesn’t mean you just let go and wait. You have to prove in training every time that you deserve to play.”

“But yes, it is difficult to get Zinchenko out of the team. It is pretty much impossible.”
