Kieran Tierney’s big Celtic return has been confirmed as ON - but whether that will be before the January transfer window deadline remains to be seen.
During his press conference previewing the upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Aston Villa, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that a pre-contract agreement was in place for Tierney to return to Glasgow five-and-a-half years on from leaving them for Arsenal.
Arsenal opted not to give the 27-year-old an extension on his current deal, although the English Premier League giants are still weighing up the possibility of allowing him to join Celtic on-loan this month.
And former Hoops forward Kris Commons reckons the Scotland defender has all the credentials to succeed Callum McGregor as a future Celtic captain during his second spell at the club.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Commons said: "I would say between 27 and 31 you would say that your body is at optimum peak performance. The experience, just the knowledge of the game, the tactical side, and knowing exactly where you are supposed to be on the field and your role off it.
"I know that Kieran Tierney will probably be a captain in the making also. I know that's something that he's definitely played a bit-part in.
"But yeah I think Kieran Tierney will be a Celtic captain of the future if he keeps himself fit and plays week in week out.
'There's no question for the young team coming through at the moment, 15, 16, 17 year-old lads that have got aspirations to play for Celtic's first team, Kieran Tierney will be a player that you will be looking up to and trying to emulate what he's achieved over this last 10 years."
