Kieran Tierney reveals 'best player in Arsenal training' who may start against Manchester United

It's been an incredible start to the season for Arsenal, to say the least, with the Gunners managing to win all five games played in the Premier League so far.

Certainly, it seems like Mikel Arteta's men have quickly moved on from the disappointing end to the previous campaign, following the club missing out on Champions League football by two points, with fellow north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur taking fourth spot.

But with Manchester United up next in what looks set to be a mouth-watering encounter tomorrow afternoon, the north Londoners have a tremendous opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table.

One man who has started both of Arsenal's two previous games is left-back Kieran Tierney, in the absence of new signing Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Scotsman has given his side strong defensive stability out of possession, although has been rather inconsistent with the ball, demonstrating clear levels of rustiness both in build-up and inside the final third.

Speaking ahead of the game, Tierney was asked about who the best player is in training and his answer may be a surprise to many.

"The best player in training would be Emile Smith Rowe," he said on Goal's YouTube channel. "The fans can see how good he is but by training with him every day, you realise how special he is.

"He can take the ball under pressure, he can beat a man, he can score goals and he can get assists, so he’s a great player and I love playing with him."

The talented Hale End graduate has struggled to cement a spot in the first team since December of last year, due to both fitness setbacks and because of the form of Gabriel Martinelli.

Whilst predominantly used through the left over the past year, with Arteta changing the dynamics within the current setup, it does seem like Smith Rowe's long-term future is as a right-sided interior and given the fact that Martin Odegaard may not feature on Sunday due to a knock sustained against Aston Villa, the former Huddersfield loanee may well make his first start of the season.
