Kieran Tierney would be a perfect fit for a move to Newcastle United because he is better than the options Eddie Howe has.
That is the view of former Rangers defender Alan Hutton who suggests that the Celtic hero would slot right in to the high-flying Toon side. Saudi-backed Newcastle are disrupting the natural order of the English Premier League top six and former Hoops manager target Howe is reportedly 'keen' on the out-of-favour Arsenal man with some reports claiming the Scotland cap is considering his options.
Tierney has made over 100 appearances for the Gunners but only four this campaign due to the emergence of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. The 25-year-old left Celtic in a big-money move in 2019 and for the first time finds himself without much hope of consistent game. Hutton believes this is his chance to get game time as he still is an 'outstanding' player.
When asked if he would get game time, he told Football Insider: “I think he could. I have always liked Kieran Tierney as a footballer. It is hard for me to say but when he was at Celtic he was outstanding. For Scotland as well.
“I knew it was going to be a big jump going down to the Premier League but I knew he was ready for it. Unfortunately they have brought in Zinchenko who has been outstanding.
“But I think somewhere like Newcastle, where he would be loved, they would love the way he plays, I think that would suit. For me, I think he is a better player overall than their current options.“
