Kieran Tierney has seemingly already explained why he won't be moving to Real Madrid despite rumours that he's on the club's radar.
According to Spanish outlet El Espanol, the Arsenal left-back has attracted interest from the Spanish giants.
Tierney joined the Gunners back in the summer of 2019 - signing for a reported £25million from Celtic - and has been a fan favourite at the Emirates ever since.
Whilst the links are concerning, the report adds that the Madrid club are believed to want depth behind Ferland Mendy at left-back rather than out-and-out competition for the Frenchman.
Therefore, Tierney’s hefty price tag is seen as a ‘handicap’.
And to reassure Arsenal fans that little bit more, if Tierney's previous words are anything to go by, he won't want to leave the club anytime soon.
After signing a new deal in June of last year, the Scotsman confirmed his love for the club.
“It feels amazing,” said Tierney when asked about the new contract, as cited by Arseblog news.
“The manager came to me and said, ‘I want you to extend your deal, we’re so happy with you.’ It was amazing for me to hear because I’ve worked hard since I joined.
“I had a hard first season with injuries and Covid but last season it really picked up for me, the club have been brilliant with me, so I was more than happy to extend.
He added: “The vision of the club and where it wants to go and the expectations of the club is where I want to be in football; at the top. There’s no doubt about it, we’re not where we want to be just now. But we’re going in the right direction.
“The way the club is run on the inside is amazing, I love all the staff, I love all the players, I love the manager and working with them is an absolute joy. Being happy in life speaks for a lot and I’m happy right now.”
Tierney is very much part of Mikel Arteta's plans at Arsenal, and with the project now up and running, he'll be looking to help the Gunners continue to grow in the coming years.
