Kieran Tierney Arsenal latest as Serie A giants 'ready to contend' for Celtic hero if made available

Kieran Tierney could be set to be the subject of a transfer tussle from two Serie A giants - if he is allowed to exit Arsenal, according to reports.

The former Celtic hero has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates this season with most of his minutes coming from the bench. He has made 24 appearances in all competitions with the majority of his starts coming in the Europa League and in the domestic cup competitions. It is very unlikely that the Scotland international will depart before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday night with any potential deal likely to happen in the summer.

Should the Gunners decide to cash in on the 25-year-old, Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim both Juventus and Inter Milan could battle it out with each other to land the defender. Scottish players moving to Italy has become a bit of the norm of late with the likes of Lewis Ferguson, Liam Henderson and Josh Doig all plying their trade in the leagues while Aaron Hickey made the switch from Hearts before earning a bid money move to the English Premier League.

Speaking recently about competing with Oleksandr Zinchenko for a left-sided slot at the back, he said: “What a player he is. He’s such a great guy as well. It’s good competition for me.

“I’ll just keep trying every day to do the best I can, work hard and, when called upon, give everything. I’ve not started many games. But there’s also only a few games where I’ve not come on.

“It’s a long season and it’s not just 11 players needed, it’s the full squad. There are different ways you can vent your disappointment. One way is to not try and openly show you don’t care.

“But there’s another way — you work hard and give your all for the team, you try to push as much as you can and, when called upon, you give everything. And that’s the way I choose.”
