In-demand Kieran Tierney is once again being linked with one of the world's biggest clubs as Manchester City were namechecked as potential suitors.
The rampaging Arsenal left-back has established himself as a bonafide Premier League star since leaving Celtic for £25million in 2019.
Tierney would likely cost in excess of £50m if he was to move on this summer. That would be good news for the Hoops who retain a cast-iron 10 per cent sell-on fee.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is a long-term admirer and Barcelona have also registered an interest in the Scotland international.
Only a raft of injuries have slowed Tierney but he's on target to return for pre-season as he remains in the mix to be named the club's next permanent skipper.
And the Scotsman claim Tierney is a viable left-back target for Pep Guardiola if a move for Brighton's Marc Cucurella falls through.
But the noted interest has led to Jamie Carragher's opinion that the Manchester City boss was hell-bent on targeting Tierney during a victory two years ago.
Speaking in 2020, Carragher said: “When I was watching the game it felt like Pep Guardiola was desperately trying to expose Tierney and Riyad Mahrez.”
Mahrez is one of the finest wide men on the planet and Tierney's added dimension as an attacking force makes him a viable option for the world's best teams.
And he's no slouch defensively, with his ability to rein in Mo Salah and Marcus Rashford has earned plaudits in the past.
It's poised to be an interesting summer for one of Scotland's finest players.
