Kieran Dowell Rangers transfer route cleared as Norwich City confirm exit and send well wishes

Norwich City have confirmed Kieran Dowell will be departing Carrow Road - with a route to Rangers now cleared.

Michael Beale has been linked with a move for Todd Cantwell's former team-mate with reports claiming he has already had a medical and agreed a three-year deal to join the Ibrox summer revamp. He will leave the English Championship side having made 75 appearances from the club and netting 12 goals.

The likes of Jack Butland and Morgan Whittaker have also been linked with Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent look to be heading in the opposite direction with the club and players 'mutually' in the same place over their futures with no new contracts presented to either. Veterans Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield are weeks away from deals ending as far Ryan Jack and Filip Helander.

A Norwich City statement read: "Norwich City can confirm that Sam Byram, Kieran Dowell and Michael McGovern will leave the football club when their respective contracts expire this summer.

"Dowell will leave the club having made 75 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals."

Sporting director Stuart Webber added: “I’d like to thank the boys for their contribution to the club over the time they have been with us.

“Michael has enjoyed two promotions and has been an outstanding professional throughout his time with us. Kieran and Sam both enjoyed being in the squad for the record-breaking points tally we have achieved in the Championship in 2021, with Kieran scoring some valuable goals during the run in.

“We wish all of the players well. They know that they are all, along with their families, welcome back at Carrow Road or the Lotus Training Centre any time.”
