Kiefer Sutherland's West Village apartment uses a bright white palette to master a Greek revivalism style – it's on the market for $20 million

Kiefer Sutherland.

I have a particular affinity for New York real estate listings; the buildings are often historied in their design, as well as intriguing in their inhabitants.

A listing that caught my eye recently fits this bill: a West Village apartment formerly belonging to Kiefer Sutherland, star of The Lost Boys and 24, has gone on the market for $20,500,000. The Greek revival townhouse contains five bedrooms and five bathrooms spread out on five levels – a considerable amount of space for the city.

Renovated by designer Stephen Gambrel, the home truly mixes period details with modern finishes, from its brick façade to its contemporary interiors. It's one of the world's best homes, fittingly redesigned for a Canadian Hollywood legend. Let's take a closer look inside.

Located on Greenwich Street, the brick exterior of this West Village townhouse fits into the area's tendency towards Greek revivalism.

Upon entering the home, we are greeted with a charming credenza and large, framed artwork, while the white walls contrast the black, painted front door. The blues in the print add a hint of color to the space, as the wood legs bring some rustic charm to the area.

The living area uses a cream base to keep the space feeling light and airy; however, textured and patterned furnishings, such as an oatmeal colored rug and black-and-white, printed throw pillows, create dimension in the sitting area. The theme of blue continues, with a large, blue and white artwork hanging over the white sofa.

The kitchen, meanwhile, features the eternally popular combo of white, painted cabinets and wood floors, with stainless steel appliances adding some modernity. We love how the space makes use of floor to ceiling cabinetry, with plenty of storage options.

A nook in the kitchen is perfect for cozy breakfasts with family members. The dining table is surrounded by rattan seats with floral cushions, which complement the floral curtains. A bench against the wall means ample seating for guests, too.

The master bedroom's monochromatic, white look is minimal yet refined, with a fireplace and mantle offering some warmth. The gold chandelier brings elegance to the room, while the subtly patterned, cream rug adds texture and some softness.

Black and white is a timeless color combination, and it works particularly well in the bathroom, as evidenced by the white cabinetry with black handles in Sutherland's home. Tiled walls bring a uniform appearance to the space, blending in seamlessly to the marbled floors.

A pop of color emerges in the dining area via bright green chairs, though the rest of the space remains partial to the white and wood duo. The reclaimed floors pair beautifully with the beige fireplace, and a white, open shelving unit adds some further visual interest to the room. There is also lots of natural light thanks to double windows.

The backyard is a highlight (and a rarity) amid the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, with a large dining table allowing for dinner parties.
