The majority of children find holidays boring while a large chunk of adults want to get away simply to do nothing.
According to a survey of British families, two thirds of children complain that there's "nothing to do" on holiday.
In a bid to banish the boredom the majority of young ones turn to screens to keep them going during their time away.
While on holiday, kids are more than twice as likely to spend their days watching content on TV, Netflix or Disney Plus than to read or play a board game.
On the other end of things are the 26% of adults who want to get away from the overstimulation of everyday life.
New research from Expedia found that a quarter of Brits report feeling in need of a “nothing-cation” – a holiday dedicated to recharging their batteries and leaving their day-to-day stresses behind while doing nothing.
The research also shows that 54% of Brits associate doing nothing on a holiday with relaxation.
While it may not be ideal for those holidaymakers who simply want to unwind and sit by the pool, one travel firm is attempting to entice children away from their screens.
Camplify has launched the Adventure Van, an action-packed motorhome aimed at families who want to reconnect while away from home.
It is filled with activities and accessories that will motivate and excite kids to get outside in the fresh air, including everything from binoculars and telescopes for stargazing, to den-making and science experiment kits, portable swings, and a seascope for underwater exploring.
It sleeps up to five people, with a a descending king-sized bed and bunk beds dressed with camping-themed bed linens and fairy lights for the kids.
A bike rack for up to four bikes is also included, with space for more in the garage as you get from A to B.
Richard Ryan-Youett, owner of the Ultimate Adventure Van, said: “I love renting out my campervan, especially to families.
"The sense of freedom and excitement that a campervan holiday brings is unrivalled and offering even more adventure with the activities and amenities included will make them even more special. I can’t wait to see what our guests think."
The Ultimate Adventure Van sleeps five and is available from £115.00 per day.
It can be collected from Royal Wootton Bassett.
