Khloe Kardashian's baby name - what it means and the sweet connection to her late father

Khloe Kardashian has finally revealed her son's name, having kept it a secret for 10 months.

The 38-year-old Good American founder had been following in the footsteps of her sister Kylie Jenner and kept the name of her second baby to herself.

However, Khloe announced she has named her baby Tatum during the first episode of season three of The Kardashians.

The moniker means "cheerful" and "full of spirit" and can be used for both boys and girls. The name also suggests happiness, positivity and a zest for life.

Breaking the news during the show, Khloe said: "His name is Tatum. So Tatum and True," before admitting: "Naming a human is really hard."

She had previously told fans she wanted her son's name to begin with a T to match his father Tristan Thompson and older sister True Thompson.

There has been speculation surrounding Tatum's middle name, which Khloe decided not to reveal on her Hulu show.

However, a source has claimed Khloe paid a special tribute to her late father Robert Kardashian by reportedly calling her son Tatum Robert Kardashian.

The name is also shared by Khloe's brother Rob Kardashian.

"There was talk about whether it should be Tatum Robert or should it be Robert Tatum.

"Some in the family were leaning more towards Robert, because it honours her dad and her brother," the source said.

Speaking to The Sun, they added: "It took Khloe a little while to settle on the name but ultimately she went with Tatum Robert, which is in keeping with Tristan and True's names starting with a T."

Elsewhere in the premiere of the new season of The Kardashians, Khloe admitted she has struggled to bond with her son after he was born via surrogate.

Khloe first became a mother in 2018 when she gave birth to daughter True. She welcomed her son via surrogate in July 2022.

And she's bravely admitted that she feels "less connected" to her son after not experiencing the pregnancy this time around.

Speaking to Scott Disick, Khloe admitted: "The surrogate process, Kim knows is really hard for me."

Khloe's older sister Kim, explained: "She had a really hard time accepting the whole process."

Khloe admitted that welcoming a child via surrogate is a "mindf***" and adds: "It really is the weirdest thing."

Agreeing, Kim said: "I do think that there is a difference when the baby is in your belly, the baby actually feels your real heart.

"Think about it. It touches your organs. There’s no one else on this planet that will feel you from the inside like that."

Scott then asks Khloe if she feels "less connected" to her baby boy and she answers, “Um-hm" and adds: "This is not easy."

The Kardashians returns for its third season today and episodes will be released weekly through Hulu in the US and they will be available on DisneyPlus in the UK.
