Khalid bin Salman: Houthis Will Pay Price for Meddling with Yemen's Future

Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman condemned on Tuesday the Iran-backed Houthi militias for meddling in Yemen's affairs and attacking its neighbors.

In a series of tweets, he said: "The Houthis alone will suffer the repercussions of meddling in Yemen's future and violating neighboring countries."

He added that the options were clear to the Houthis and "they chose escalation."

The terrorist attack by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are "a threat to our region’s security. The Houthis aren’t interested in peace and remain hostage to their regional backer, which treats our region’s security as a mere negotiating card," he remarked.

"They continue to reject all United Nations and other peace proposals put forth by the Kingdom and the international community, endangering the well-being of the brotherly Yemeni people and threatening the global economy with acts of terrorism," stressed Prince Khalid.

"Houthi terrorism is perpetuated by a flow of Iranian weapons through the Hodeidah and al-Sulaif ports, breaking UN Security Council resolutions and turning these ports into bases to attack neighbors and threaten global shipping lanes.

The international community must stand up to this violation of international law," he urged.
