KFC releases gaming console with built-in chicken warmer to keep food hot for ‘intense’ sessions

KFC has launched a gaming console that comes with a built-in chicken warmer to keep food hot during “intense gaming sessions”.

The fast food company advertised the product in June, leading consumers to believe it was a spoof marketing campaign.

However, KFC has now revealed that the product is in fact very real indeed, with the console having been designed by global hardware maker, Cooler Master.

The console also comes with a custom-built system that keeps the chicken warm by using heat produced by its components.

"The chicken chamber will keep its contents hot, ready for consumption during intense gaming sessions," KFC said in a statement.

KFC spokesperson Mark Cheevers told the BBC that the machine is “capable of running games at top-level specs”.

Mr Cheevers added: "All on top of keeping your meal warm for you to enjoy during your gaming experience... what's not to like?

"If Sony or Microsoft want any tips on how to engineer a chicken chamber for their efforts next time, they'd be welcome to get in touch."

KFC has not yet announced a release date for the console, or a price.

However, a website for the device has been launched. “The KFConsole has arrived,” it states on the homepage of the website.

“Forged from the fires of the KFC ovens and built by Cooler Master from the ground up, there has never been a tastier way to experience the latest titles in stunning 4k, 240fps.”

When the company tweeted about the product from its KFC Gaming account, consumers expressed their disbelief.

“No way this is real," wrote one person, to which KFC Gaming replied: “Oh it’s real.”
