If you’re a fan of fried chicken and a Londoner, then you’re in for a finger-lickin' treat.
KFC has opened its first pub in the capital to coincide with the World Cup in Qatar.
Hammersmith watering hole The Old Suffolk Punch has been transformed into a Colonel Sanders-branded bar, with big screens allowing you to watch all the action from Qatar while you munch on fried chicken and enjoy a few drinks.
Former England midfielder Jimmy Bullard, 44, is the landlord of the pub, which has been renamed The Colonel’s Arms.
Bullard said: “It’s class when the three things I love — football, fried chicken and the pub — come together.
“What a blinder to be asked by the absolute legends at KFC to be the official landlord for KFC Delivery’s first-ever pub, The Colonel’s Arms.
“The only pub where you can get your KFC delivered straight to your table and the perfect spot to enjoy pints and football with your mates.
“Whether it’s celebration chicken or consolation chicken, KFC Delivery provides everything fans need to let loose.”
The fast-food giant has also launched the Colonel’s Arms Bar Kit, which features a limited-edition pint glass, two coasters, a bottle opener, as well as a bar mat. The kit is available nationwide on the KFC Merch Store.
KFC’s tagline for the pub venture is, fittingly given the football link, “Chicken’s coming home”.
The pub promises an “unmatched football viewing experience”, with a KFC Delivery bell, beer, as well as free gravy on offer.
The pub opened on Friday, November 25, and will remain open at 80 Fulham Place Road in west London until December 1. It won’t open on Wednesday, November 30, though, and is cashless and requires ID to be shown on entry.
Many Londoners have expressed shock and excitement about the novel venture.
One said on Twitter: “KFC has turned a Hammersmith pub, The Old Suffolk Punch, into a Colonel Sanders branded bar. This is a crime against our culture. Look at the KFC bucket flower hangings.”
A second person said they were already on their way: “Heading to Hammersmith to find this @kfc pub.”
A fourth added: “Thought I was a few sheets to the wind and discovered a KFC pub.”
