A KEY road in Argyll and Bute has remained closed over landslide fears, and other parts of Scotland have been issued with a yellow weather warning.
The A83 Rest and Be Thankful, which leads onto the Old Military Road, has been shut since Sunday and is expected to reopen by Tuesday morning.
The road has been closed as a precautionary measure over fears of landslides as a convoy system has been temporarily introduced.
Motorists have been warned to expect delays of around 20 minutes.
A post on Traffic Scotland’s website said: “In response to the wet weather forecast, Bear Scotland will be diverting traffic at the Rest and Be Thankful onto the Old Military Road from 6pm this evening (Sunday 4 August) as a precaution. A decision will be made about returning traffic to the A83 trunk road on the morning of Tuesday 6 August.
“Traffic will operate under a convoy system and road users should expect delays of around 20 minutes.”
Scotland has been forecast for seven days of rain this week with varying degrees of showers.
A yellow weather warning was issued at the weekend by the Met Office for the Borders as areas including Moffat, Lockerbie, Dumfries and Dalbeattie are to be affected.
Elsewhere various blanket speed restrictions have been introduced by ScotRail due to the adverse weather conditions.
According to the train operator's website speed restrictions will often result in extended journey times or alterations and commuters are urged to check their journeys ahead of time.
Routes affected by the speed restrictions are:
- Queen St/Oban/Mallaig
- Glasgow Central/Barrhead/Kilmarnock/Carlisle
- Glasgow Central/Stranraer
- Glasgow Central/Largs/Ardrossan Harbour
- Glasgow Central/Ayr
