Key ScotRail service from Glasgow Central to return – all you need to know

SCOTRAIL has provided an update on the resumption of services from Glasgow-Ayr following the completion of safety works.

It comes after the Grade B-listed Ayr Station Hotel suffered extensive damage in a fire last September.

Train services were suspended and replaced by buses between Ayr and Prestwick until December while a shuttle train was reintroduced using one of the station’s four platforms.

In a post on Twitter/X, ScotRail said: “From tomorrow (Monday, June 17) we’ll resume operation of some of our direct Glasgow-Ayr train services.

“Check our app or website for service information.”

You can find out more about which specific services are running HERE.

The post added: “Our aim is to resume services between Kilmarnock, Ayr, Girvan and Stranraer by mid-July.

“We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have further information.”
