Key priority Leeds United fans demand Jesse Marsch tackles as they keep open minds on new boss

Leeds United fans have made it clear what Jesse Marsch’s main priority at the club must be but the jury is out on whether he is the man to keep them in the division.

A significant portion of supporters are also undecided as to whether they are happy with the appointment of the 48-year-old as he begins his second week in charge at Elland Road.

Marsch ’s tenure at Elland Road officially kicked off on Saturday as the Whites were unfortunate to be beaten 1-0 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Leeds, though, must get over that defeat to the Foxes quickly as they face two huge home games in the space of four days this week – firstly against Aston Villa and then Norwich City.

With Leeds just two points clear of the bottom three, a survey ran by LeedsLive which gaged over 4200 responses , revealed 44.5% of fans are unsure whether Marsch will be able to keep Leeds in the league.

39.5% think that he will be able to turn the club’s form around and do enough to preserve the Whites’ topflight status, meaning 16% believe Leeds will go down.

Supporters were also similarly split when quizzed on whether they were happy with the appointment of Marsch.

At 47.5% , again the majority remain unsure, while 34.3% are pleased he is in the dugout. 18.1% are unhappy he has been chosen as Marcelo Bielsa ’s successor.

In terms of what Marsch’s biggest immediate priority is, supporters made it unequivocally clear what that should be.

Leeds conceded 20 goals in Bielsa’s final five games in charge of the club so it's unsurprising 63.8% think plugging the leaky defence should be what he sorts out first.

With a few key players still looking to find their way back to fitness, 23.4% believe that addressing the injury situation is his biggest priority.
