Key Points From Michael Cohen Trial Summations

Former attorney for Michael Cohen, Lanny Davis, provided insights on the trial proceedings involving Michael Cohen. Davis highlighted the contrasting strategies employed by the prosecution and defense in presenting their cases to the jury.

Davis emphasized the importance of distinguishing between character attacks and hard evidence. He pointed out two key questions for the jury to consider. Firstly, whether Donald Trump had political motivations for the hush money paid to Stormy Daniels. Davis asserted that if the payment was politically motivated, it constituted a crime, as confirmed by Cohen's conviction.

The second question focused on whether Trump lied about the nature of payments to Cohen. Davis referenced Allen Weisselberg's notes, which indicated a reimbursement of $130,000, contradicting Trump's claim of legal fees.

Addressing the defense's arguments, Davis reiterated that the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels was not for legal fees, as suggested by the defense. He underscored the significance of Weisselberg's absence as a potential source of reasonable doubt for the jury.

Regarding Cohen's portrayal in the trial, Davis expressed his belief that the prosecution correctly framed the case around documentary evidence rather than character attacks on Cohen. He defended Cohen's credibility, stating that reading a book to confirm facts does not equate to dishonesty.

Despite not having spoken to Cohen about his trial experience, Davis acknowledged the challenging circumstances Cohen faced during the proceedings.
