Nottingham Forest player ratings: Low marks as Reds suffer woeful defeat to West Ham
Nottingham Forest’s dismal form on the road continued as a second half capitulation saw them thumped 4-0 by West Ham United on a miserable afternoon.
The Reds made the trip to the capital looking to improve their away form, having notched just one win and scored three goals on their travels. They didn’t have too many chances to add to that latter tally and a woeful spell after the break proved costly.
The visitors had to defend solidly at times in the first half, with Keylor Navas flicking away a Jarrod Bowen corner early on. Felipe then breathed a sigh of relief when he deflected Lucas Paqueta’s low effort on to the post, while Navas thwarted Said Benrahma on the half hour.
Steve Cooper blasts 'unacceptable' Nottingham Forest collapse against West Ham
Head coach Steve Cooper blasted an “unacceptable” second half capitulation as Nottingham Forest were thumped 4-0 by West Ham United.
The Reds shot themselves in the foot with their collapse after Danny Ings had opened the scoring in the 70th minute. Ings made it a quickfire double by netting again three minutes later, and it became four in the space of quarter of an hour as Declan Rice and Michail Antonio made sure of the three points for the hosts.
Defeat at the London Stadium continued Forest’s dismal form on the road, with just six points taken and three goals scored this season. And it meant their cushion to the bottom three has been narrowed to four points with 14 games to go.
Joe Worrall delivers brutally honest Nottingham Forest verdict after West Ham 'damage'
Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall admits his team did "not deserve anything" from the game against West Ham.
The Forest academy graduate said the Reds were "not good enough" on Saturday, and said it was "not acceptable" for them to concede two goals in as many minutes. His thoughts have been echoed by supporters, and it will be a painful trip back up the M1 for Steve Cooper and his men.
"We didn't do well enough to recover the third and the fourth and that period was not good enough and too soft," Worrall told BBC Sport.
Danny Ings makes surprise Nottingham Forest comment after West Ham brace
West Ham striker Danny Ings has revealed he was "disappointed" to only score two goals against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The former Aston Villa striker bagged a brace as the Hammers thrashed the Reds 4-0 at London Stadium, with Declan Rice and Michail Antonio adding the other two goals.
Speaking after the match, Ings revealed that he was disappointed to not score more goals against a Forest side who were "unacceptable" in their performance, according to both Steve Cooper and Joe Worrall.
