Key factor in Todd Cantwell Rangers transfer exit as 'fee to be impacted'

English Championship side Blackburn Rovers have opened discussions with Rangers over a move for Todd Cantwell.

We revealed yesterday that talks are ongoing with a switch down south on a loan or permanent transfer possible for the Ibrox midfielder.

Cantwell, 26, is set to leave Rangers after submitting a transfer request during pre-season with the player not involved with the first-team.

Philippe Clement previously explained the midfielder had requested to leave Rangers with Cantwell removed from the first-team squad as a result.

Now, Blackburn Rovers have emerged as suitors for Cantwell with John Eustace thought to be keen to land the player before the window closes on Friday.

However, reports have now stated any fee Rangers would receive for Cantwell could be impacted - if it's a permanent transfer deal negotiated.

Football Scotland reports that Norwich City hold a sell-on fee in Cantwell after his move north to Rangers meaning they would be entitled to a chunk of the fee.

It's claimed the sell-on fee included in the deal was incentivised on Cantwell's achievements in Glasgow.

Therefore, Norwich will only receive a minor cut of any possible transfer fee for Cantwell, according to the outlet.

Clement was quizzed on Cantwell's situation in his press conference on Friday and revealed his lack of involvement was not his decision.

"I'm not going to go into details about that," said Clement. "I can say it's not my decision."

Asked for an update on whether any bids have been received for Hagi or Cantwell, Clement said: "No, this all... Yeah, I don't know. At the end, I don't know which bids come in. I really don't know. Because I'm not interested in that."
