The EFL have announced the all important dates for the 2023/24 campaign. Sunderland are set to take part in the Championship play-offs later this month, but failure to win promotion would mean a second season in the second tier.
The Black Cats defied the odds and finished in sixth place - the best finish from a newly promoted side in nearly a decade. Tony Mowbray and his men will take on Luton Town in a double header, starting at the Stadium of Light before a reverse fixture at Kenilworth Road.
The winner will be one win away from a return to the top flight. Defeat means another year in the Championship, with some all important dates confirmed by the EFL.
