Kevin Thomson emerges as Hartlepool United contender ahead of Raith Rovers talks

Hartlepool United are considering a move for Kevin Thomson.

The highly-rated Kelty Hearts boss is also an active target for Raith Rovers.

The English League Two side are currently looking for a new boss after they sacked Graeme Lee last week.

The Pools Monkey Hangers are considering options for next season and Thomson’s name is on their list after his first season heroics with League Two winners Kelty Hearts and knocking holders St Johnstone out of the Scottish Cup.

Former Hibs boss Tony Mowbray and Halifax manager Pete Wild are other candidates who are being looked at.

Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers have already been granted permission to speak to the Kelty boss Thomson.

The 37-year-old, who held talks with Kilmarnock earlier this season, is due to speak to them over the next 24 hours.

Rovers are interviewing a number of candidates as they look to find a replacement for John McGlynn, who quit for Falkirk earlier this month.
