Kevin Thelwell says he is excited to be joining Everton and is looking forward to working with Frank Lampard after being appointed the club's new Director of Football.
The 48-year-old will join the Merseyside club after spending the past two years as Head of Sport at New York Red Bulls.
Having previously operated as Sporting Director for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Thelwell arrives with a reputation for developing young players and is seen as a key appointment as part of Everton's ongoing strategic review of its football strategy and operation.

Thelwell said: “I’m so pleased to be joining Everton and to have the opportunity to play a part in the club’s ambitious journey.
"I’m greatly looking forward to working with Frank and the players and to helping the owner and board achieve their long-term footballing objectives.
"The owner, the chairman and the CEO all presented compelling reasons for me to join this great club and I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with them all and to move Everton forward. I can’t get wait to get started.”
Thelwell's appoint comes after previous Director of Football, Marcel Brands, was removed from his post in December, 2021.
Thelwell was previously Academy Manager at Wolves between 2008 and 2013, during which time more than 30 homegrown players made more than 1,000 first team appearances for the club.
He was also the youngest Academy Manager in the country at Derby County at the age of 32.
