Kevin Thelwell persuades Everton staff member to return after Rafa Benitez and Marcel Brands exit

Dan Purdy has completed a return to Everton just over three months after leaving the club in December 2021.

As first reported by Training Ground Guru, he has been persuaded to return to Everton by new director of football Kevin Thelwell following his appointment last month. Purdy will now begin his second spell at the club as Scouting and Operations Manager.

He initially spent seven-and-a-half years with Everton, starting as a performance analyst intern and rising through the ranks to become manager of scouting and operations before he left.

His departure came shortly after Marcel Brands left in December 2021 following a power struggle with then-manager Rafael Benitez, who wanted more control over recruitment.

The Spaniard was sacked by Everton just over a month later, with the club eventually appointing Frank Lampard after a short managerial search.
