Superstar "Shark Tank" investor Kevin O'Leary had a strange tale to tell in a recent interview -- and wow, is it a doozie. Mr. Wonderful claims that many companies tried to hire Gen-Z workers who were familiar with social media. But in the interviews, the candidates were less than impressive.
While speaking of hiring practices during the covid-19 pandemic, O'Leary told Fox News that "most companies tried to hire 20-year-olds that understood social media. 'How do you do TikTok, how to do Instagram ads, how to do Twitter --"

"Interviewing these people[,] most [of them] don't know that their camera on their laptop is really wide. It's a wide shot," O'Leary laughs before continuing to the wildest part of the story. "Oh, there's mom passing notes [to them] in the interview. And you know you could see her shadow on the wall[...]"
"I just say Mom get out here. Are you going to do the social media we're hiring the kid [for]?"
I think we can all agree that this story is apocryphal at best. In 2020, when many young adults were forced to move back home after the covid-19 quarantine, a Mom or two probably appeared on Zoom by accident. But was it a large-scale phenomenon? Probably not.
Also, have you ever tried to take a phone call in front of your mom and not been interrupted?
