The Minnesota Vikings found a way to lose against the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 28-24. The play that everyone will be talking about at the end of the game is Kirk Cousins not clocking the football after T.J. Hockenson catches a fourth-down pass with 36 seconds left.
The ensuing 24 seconds were wasted by the Vikings by trying to get set when they could have just spiked the football. Why didn’t they spike it? Kevin O’Connell explained what happened.

This explains a bit why Cousins didn’t just spike the football right away. Honestly, their first thought shouldn’t have been to steal a play when you weren’t even close to being ready.
If you called two plays on the fourth down play, the Vikings could have snapped the ball with around 23 seconds left and taken advantage of just that. Being the veteran that Cousins is, he should have handled that much better and he just didn’t.
