Kevin Nisbet's contract will be a top priority for Hibs’ incoming director of football – to avoid the striker running down his deal like Ryan Porteous.
The Scotland hitman is contracted until the end of next season with no recent renewal discussions. Hibs are keen for the 25-year-old, who netted a hat-trick last weekend, to focus on his football after a serious knee operation. But the club plan to hold talks with Nisbet and his representatives – with negotiations headed by the director of football once he checks in at Easter Road.
Defender Porteous is set to be sold this month with his contract expiring and Udinese are front runners. Chief Executive Ben Kensell announced earlier this week that Hibs are on the search for a director of football. He said: "I’m excited that we can bring in a Director of Football and believe it will considerably benefit the Club. I have worked with Directors of Football before, so I have a full understanding of the difference they can make."
