Kevin Nisbet departs Hibs as striker completes £2million switch to Millwall

Hibs will be on the lookout for a new striker after Kevin Nisbet was confirmed as a Millwall player.

The 26-year old came close to joining The Lions back in January, only for the deal to fall apart at the last minute. But now the Scotland international has completed his reported £2million switch to the Den, and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract, and will join up with Gary Rowett's side when the transfer window opens next month.

Nisbet departs Leith after an impressive goal scoring season in the Premiership, where he netted 12 times in 19 games despite missing a large part of the season with injury.

His goals helped Hibs claim a fifth place finish in the table, and a place in qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League next season, thanks to Celtic completing a treble by lifting the Scottish Cup last weekend.

Millwall manager Rowett spoke of his delight at finally landing his man. Speaking to millwallfc.co.uk, he said: "It’s a fabulous addition for us. Kevin is a goalscorer but also has so many other attributes to contribute to the squad.

"When I’ve spoken to him you can tell he’s raring to go and excited to play in front of our fans.

"He thrives off that energy from the supporters and I’m sure they will get that exact same buzz from him as well."

Director of Football Operations and Recruitment, Alex Aldridge, added: "Kevin is a player who we are delighted to add to the ranks at Millwall.

"We have been long-term admirers of him and feel he is a player who can add quality and goals to Gary's squad.

"Kevin has really bought into the project at the club and we look forward to seeing what he can do in a Millwall shirt."

Boss Lee Johnson will now be hoping to use the funds from Nisbet's sale to try and find a replacement, while the club are also keen to bring back defender Will Fish, who impressed in a loan spell from Manchester United last season.
