Kevin Huber called Evan McPherson’s kick that sent Bengals to Super Bowl

Cincinnati Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson is in the middle of a historic tear in the playoffs and recently went viral for calling his shot before hitting a 52-yarder to send his team to the AFC title game.

His special teams unit was at it again in the AFC championship with a spot in the Super Bowl at stake.

According to Peter King of NBC Sports, punter Kevin Huber — the holder on McPherson’s kicks and the one in overtime that sent the Bengals to the Super Bowl — looked back at him before the snap and called his shot:

“When McPherson lined up for the kick, he got a shot of adrenaline from his holder, punter Kevin Huber. Huber looked back at one of the hottest kickers in playoff history and said, ‘We’re going to the Super Bowl.’”

It was a callback to McPherson’s prediction in the divisional round, but also just the confidence the entire organization has in the rookie.

McPherson has already set an NFL record in the playoffs, and he heartwarmingly celebrated it in Kansas City with his mom after the game.

No wonder his jersey is sold out and won’t be back anytime soon.
