NBA legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce recently shared their excitement about the defensive duo of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday for the Boston Celtics on an episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast.
Garnett emphasized their relentless playing style, underscoring their commitment to every possession and their willingness to contribute in all aspects of the game, including offensive rebounds, cutting, setting screens, and going for steals. KG believes that when a team buys into defense, it can change the culture of the ball club and bring the team together in a major way. Pierce added that he remembers how the Celtics used to aim for shutouts defensively, and the backcourt duo reminds him of those times.
Both Garnett and Pierce believe that the Celtics have the potential to make a deep playoff run due to their defensive capabilities.
