Kevin Durant Deletes Tweet That Tried to Quash Rumor About Nets’ Split With Bruce Brown

Kevin Durant put his Twitter fingers to use, once again, on Friday as the Suns superstar looked to dispel a rumor involving Nuggets guard and playoff darling Bruce Brown.

The ordeal began as NBA Twitter gushed over Brown’s clutch, 21-point effort in the Nuggets’ Game 4 win over the Heat. FanDuel’s Eddie Gonzalez, the co-host of Durant’s Boardroom podcast, was among those praising Brown, prompting a reply from a Nets fan who made a claim about KD’s days with the team.

“That same player KD didn’t want back on the Nets,” the fan tweeted at Gonzalez, seemingly referencing Brown, who played with Durant for two seasons in Brooklyn from 2020 to ’22.

While the comment could’ve been nothing more than a troll, Durant fired off a rebuttal denying he had anything to do with Brown signing with Denver last offseason. The 13-time All-Star even cracked a joke about his “soft” response and deleting the tweet, which he eventually did

“At some point, Nets Twitter has to stop making s–t up... I know, I know, I’m soft for this tweet. I’ll delete soon,” Durant wrote, according to Larry Brown Sports.

As Brown and Denver close in on a title, the 26-year-old has seen his star elevate on the game’s biggest stage due to his play. And, the fact that Durant, whose Suns lost to the Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals, even took time to acknowledge the fan’s comment says a lot about where Brown is at this stage of his career.

During the regular season, Brown averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists on 48.3/35.8/75.8 shooting splits in 80 games (31 starts). He has averaged 12.1 points in 19 playoff games, and 11.8 PPG on 53.1% shooting from the field and 50% from beyond the arc in four games against Miami.
