Kevin De Bruyne tells Pep Guardiola his best position after Man City goals vs Wolves

Kevin De Bruyne wants to play in central midfield rather than out wide or as a false nine, he has said after scoring four for Manchester City at Wolves.

De Bruyne has been in brilliant form for weeks now, and peaked even further with a 17-minute hat-trick at Molineux to put City in control in their penultimate away game. Not content with his first hat-trick for City, De Bruyne added a fourth after the break and even hit the post late on to deny him a fifth.

Speaking after the game, De Bruyne praised his teammates and put his scoring form down to 'not hesitating', but it was a discussion over his best position for City that provided the most interesting comment.

"It's pretty nice! When you score four it's always special, it should have been five," he said.

"We played well, except a couple of counters in first half, we controlled it. we could have scored more. To do that against Wolves who are defensively sound is impressive. Our front four were able to find the right moments to go deep or commit. When Bernardo tucked in, I went deep. Phil and Raz have such good movement in behind, it worked really well.

"When you get the opportunity, don't hesitate [to shoot]. My right foot is stronger but I'm not afraid to shoot with the left. If it doesn't go in it creates a problem for the opposition. It's a combination of either/or."

And speaking about his best position, De Bruyne expressed a desire to continue playing from his central midfield role.

"When we play in a midfield three it's between number eight or number ten, central I'm the best. I make more movements outside. When I go inside to outside I'm stronger. That's probably my best position, but playing my career in different positions I've learned to understand what my teammates want."
