Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling were the pick of the bunch as Manchester City fans lauded their side’s performance at Burnley.
Having been leapfrogged by Liverpool just moments before kick-off, City wasted no time in reclaiming their position at the top of the Premier League. A comfortable 2-0 win at Turf Moor ensured they restored their one-point advantage over the Reds ahead of next weekend’s titanic clash.
De Bruyne settled any early nerves as he struck within the opening five minutes, with Ilkay Gundogan doubling the lead midway through the first-half. Although the visitors didn’t add to the scoreline after going 2-0 up, they eased their way to victory with a thoroughly professional display.
And it will come as no surprise to learn that City fans were more than happy with their side’s display. Judging by their ratings, collated by MEN Sport, everyone played their part in another fine victory.
De Bruyne and Sterling lead the way, with the former just edging it to the highest rating with 8.3 to Sterling’s 8.2. Although they were the only two players to be marked over eight, there was certainly no shortage of high marks.
Goalscorer Gundogan also ranked highly with 7.9, while Joao Cancelo and Nathan Ake impressed in the back four as they both earned 7.6. Rodri and Ederson were scored 7.5, while Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker were both rated 7.3.
The only slight disappointment for the fans came in the form of Jack Grealish. The England international played the full 90 minutes at Turf Moor but was handed the lowest rating of all the players with a 6.0.
Nevertheless, there were plenty of encouraging signs for City’s players as they head into a crucial fortnight. As well as their Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, there is the small matter of that league meeting with Liverpool, as well as an FA Cup semi-final against the Reds the following weekend.
