Kevin De Bruyne ruled out of Manchester City’s Champions League trip to RB Leipzig

Kevin De Bruyne has not been named in Manchester City’s travelling party for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to RB Leipzig.

Pep Guardiola will be without the Belgian midfielder along with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones due to injury.

All three sat out training on Tuesday morning before City announced the 22 players that will fly out to Germany, with Guardiola facing the media later in the evening.

Full details on their absences are expected to come as City hope to chase Arsenal down in the Premier League title race, facing Bournemouth away on the weekend before an FA Cup clash at Bristol City.

De Bruyne was substituted late on in the draw at Nottingham Forest but was not thought to be carrying an injury at the time.

Maximo Perrone, the January signing from Velez Sarsfield who is yet to make his debut, has been picked to travel to Leipzig.

Northern Irish youngster Shea Charles and fellow teenager Alexander Robertson are also on the flight, both of which play in midfield and could help cover for De Bruyne’s absence.

Meanwhile, centre-back Stones is nearing a return from a thigh injury.

Guardiola said last week that the player is “doing better” having last played in the FA Cup win over Arsenal on January 27.
