Kevin De Bruyne makes Liverpool 'pressure' claim and sends title race message

Kevin De Bruyne has explained how Manchester City responded to “pressure” applied by Liverpool.

The Reds won 1-0 against West Ham on Saturday to temporarily move three points behind Premier League leaders Man City.

However, the gap was restored to six points after Man City ran out 4-1 winners over arch rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Liverpool have played one game fewer than Man City, with the next opportunity for the Reds to reduce the gap once more coming in the early kick-off against Brighton next Saturday.

De Bruyne scored Man City’s opening two goals in the win over Man United, and after the match, was asked about the pressure that Liverpool have applied on him and his team-mates.

But the Belgium international added that Man City are not focusing on the results from Liverpool.

“Today we proved we are a good team and we played really well so we deserved the three points,” De Bruyne told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool put the pressure on us but it’s just about winning game by game and we responded today.

“We always play the game and sometimes we don’t get the result but we play football our way and that’s what we’ll do until the end of the season.”
