Kevin De Bruyne makes bold N'Golo Kante claim as Chelsea transfer target sent clear warning

Your Chelsea digest on Monday, January 24.

Kevin De Bruyne picks N'Golo Kante

Manchester City maestro Kevin De Bruyne has picked Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante in his dream 5-a-side team.

The Belgian was speaking on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe With 5 Podcast, in which the Manchester United legend asked for De Bruyne's ideal side made up of players playing today, with no goalkeeper.

With little hesitation, Lionel Messi and Neymar were picked before Virgil Van Dijk was selected as the only defender of the side.

Bernado Silva was selected in midfield to partner Kante, who seemed like an obvious choice to De Bruyne, saying: "I need Kante."

Declan Rice sent transfer warning

Declan Rice is set to be hot property come the end of the season with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all set to do battle for the midfielder's signature.

But former Blue Joe Cole has warned the 23-year-old off the idea of signing for United and hinted that a link-up with Pep Guardiola is probably the most appealing prospect.

"I wouldn’t go [to United] if I was Declan Rice, no. I think you run the risk of going there and still not winning trophies," he said on BT Sport.

"I think if Man City were on the table, you’d go there because in recent years it guarantees you trophies and I think Declan would want that.

"But for me there’s no reason for him to not stay at West Ham if the progress is still going in that [upward] pattern, but that’s for him and the owners. He needs better players around him at West Ham to go to that next level."

Romelu Lukaku claim made

Sky Sports pundits Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Jamie Redknapp believe that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is low on confidence after a difficult start to life back at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian has scored just five goals in the Premier League since his summer switch from Inter Milan, with a return to the goals believed to be a route to gain that confidence back.

Former Blues midfielder Hasselbaink said: “I think he’s [Romelu Lukaku] still a really good signing and has a lot to give."
