Kevin De Bruyne has explained why Mikel Arteta will turn down PSG to stay at Arsenal

Kevin De Bruyne has reassured Arsenal fans why Mikel Arteta would reject Paris Saint-Germain if an offer was to come in for the Spaniard. A lot is set to change for the Ligue 1 side in the summer, as Mauricio Pochettino's future is in doubt.

Football.london understands that the Gunners are confident of tying the Arsenal boss to a new contract. With his current deal set to expire in 2023, PSG are monitoring his situation.

Mauricio Pochettino looks set to leave the Parisian side at the end of the season after a humiliating exit from the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid. This has been backed up by a string of disappointing performances in Ligue 1.

Arsenal have been thriving this season, Arteta is on the path of guiding the Gunners to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2017. His impressive style of play that has been implemented on the Arsenal side is a major reason for interest from PSG. But, De Bruyne has explained why he would not join the French side.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the Belgian said: “Man City looks for the best players, but also learns about personal life, the way you behave. They know how to create a group. It’s a little different from what is done at PSG.”

Arteta became a student of Pep Guardiola after joining the Manchester City coaching staff in 2016. He joined the Citizens after leaving Arsenal and retiring his playing career.

His ideology is very similar to the Manchester City boss in terms of squad togetherness and creating a culture at the club. Speaking on this matter, Arteta said: If you don't have the right culture, in the difficult moments, the tree is going to shake, so my job is to convince everybody that this is how we are going to live, and if you are going to be part of this organisation it has to be in these terms and in this way.”

PSG are constantly scrutinized for their culture and their dressing room issues, which certainly would not appeal to Arteta. The Ligue 1 side has constantly been embarrassingly knocked out of the Champions League which has created a toxic atmosphere within the club.

Arteta has taken the club in a completely different direction and instead of trying to achieve the initial target of a top-six finish, the Gunners are now hot favourites for a place in Europe's elite competition. This is proof of the process the Spaniard has spoken about on countless occasions finally succeeding and Arteta is spearheading the attempt to bring back the days under Wenger when qualifying for the Champions League was automatic.

For him to leave such a promising project to a PSG side who are looking in the wrong direction could be classed as a step backward for Arteta. To add to this, De Bruyne has already given the reassurance on why the Spaniard will remain as Arsenal manager.
